A new law effective Wednesday allows the state to build the fence, as long as it can raise enough private donations and persuade public and private landowners to let it be done on their property.
A new website for the effort, www.buildtheborderfence.com, was set to go online at midnight.
No other state has tried such a tactic.

Sen. Steve Smith, R-Maricopa, who sponsored the legislation, hopes to raise at least $50 million from donors across the nation.
"Donate to the country's security," Smith said. "This is an American problem, not an Arizona problem."
State lawmakers who supported the law have said they want a consistent fence along the entire border that is solid, has multiple layers and is tall enough to keep out pedestrians. Smith said the effort also could include more high-tech security efforts.
The state's southern border is about 370 miles long. About a third of that, mostly in the western part of the state between Yuma and Nogales, has the type of fence lawmakers want. The rest either has no fencing or has fencing designed to keep out vehicles. In that part of the state, the fence is only a few feet tall and is made of barbed wire or wooden posts. Smith said most illegal immigrants cross into the eastern part of Arizona over that more porous border.
According to a 2009 U.S. Government Accountability Office report, it has cost the federal government about $3 million a mile to build the type of fence that would keep pedestrians out.
Smith said Arizona's final cost would depend on what kind of a fence is constructed and whether the state can get private companies to donate some of the construction supplies. State lawmakers have said they could save money by using inmate labor to build the fence.
The effort doesn't have official nonprofit status for tax purposes, but Smith said the website has a letter from the state consular general stating that there is precedent in Arizona that donations to a state or political subdivision are tax deductible.
"We aren't taking an official position on that, but consult your tax professional," Smith said. "Take that letter to your accountant."
The Legislature's Joint Border Security Advisory Committee, on which Smith serves, will determine what type of fence will be built and then manage construction.
Getting permission from landowners will determine where the fence can be built.
Much of the Arizona border is on federal land or Indian reservations, with small portions belonging to private landowners. Smith said the easiest solution would be for the federal government to give permission to build the fence within its 60-foot easement along the border.
"Let's hope the federal government will allow us to do it," Smith said. "But if they say no, we have a contingency."
Smith said he already has begun talking to private landowners and has support from several to build on their property, even if it means the fence has to go miles north of the border.
"We've identified three highly trafficked areas that are notorious that we have pretty good access to," he said. "And as we continue to raise awareness and funds, I hope the federal government says, 'Go ahead and build whatever you want to build.'"
"Arizona has been slammed by federally imposed, ineffective walls that cost taxpayers millions per mile," said Dan Millis, program coordinator for the Sierra Club borderlands campaign, in a media release. "Donations toward more border walls will not provide much bang for the buck."

The responses I have received after sending out a copy of my press release to you have been overwhelming. Thank you all for contacting me and asking what you can do to help. Since the press release I have found out some additional information that I would like to share as well as give you a process in which your voices may be heard loud and clear.
New information:
Strategic Telemetry and Ken Strasma as you know have been linked to several democratic campaigns. The new information we have found is Mr. Strasma's involvement directly with the DNC. (Democratic National Committee). Mr. Strasma has been very involved with NECE (National Committee for an Effective Congress) . As stated directly on their web site: an organization that would pool the resources of small contributors from across the country and spend those funds in the most efficient way to elect progressive candidates to the U.S. Senate and House.
NCEC also talks specifically about Arizona on their web page. Indicating that our 2010 Census data could "alter democratic presidential strategy".

In addition to these things being uncovered, it was brought to our notice that the contract for this company has not yet been written or signed. In fact, the Arizona State Procurement Office has bowed out of working with the contracting of this company and so the Executive Director, Ray Bladine, has to write the contract himself.
It was also brought to my attention that the chairman of the redistricting commission has a conflict of interest that she did not disclose. Her husband was the Treasurer for Nancy Young Wright, who was an incumbent in LD26 until she was ousted by voters last election cycle.
According to Article 4 of the Arizona State Constitution, Colleen Mathis needs to be removed as chairman of our Independent Redistricting Commission for Gross Misconduct, Neglect of Duty and Conflict of Interest. Her vote was the deciding vote in brining in the Liberals to Map the Congressional Districts here in Arizona.
There are two Republicans that sit on the redistricting commission that have been fighting this. Thank you to both of them and please keep up the good fight for the people of Arizona. I am sure I am not alone when I say NO party affiliation when it comes to mapping is acceptable in this State. Republican or Democrat.
What you can do:
Attend the meetings and speak. If you cannot attend a meeting, pass the word around to someone who can. Contact groups to alert them when the meetings are. There were about 100 people present at the last meeting in Tucson; we need the same show of solidarity at all the meetings. As many as possible.

Bugles Across America
Bugles Across America, NFP was founded in 2000 by Tom Day, when Congress passed legislation stating Veterans had a right to at least 2 uniformed military people to fold the flag and play taps on a CD player. Bugles Across America was begun to take this a step further, and in recognition of the service these Veterans provided their country, we felt that every Veteran deserved a live rendition of taps played by a live Bugler. To this end, we are actively seeking volunteers to provide this valuable service to Veterans and their families.
Bugles Across America now has over 7500 bugler volunteers located in all 50 states and growing number overseas. Since the Department of Veterans Affairs is expecting more than 1/2 million veterans to pass every year for the next 7 years, Bugles Across America is ALWAYS recruiting new volunteers.
Bugler Volunteers can be male or female. They can play a traditional bugle with no valves, or they can perform the ceremony on a Trumpet, Cornet, Flugelhorn, or a 1, 2 or 3 valved bugle. The bugler can be of any age as long as they can play the 24 notes of Taps with an ease and style that will do honor to both the Veterans, their families, and the burial detail performing the service.

General Electric (GE) employed a combination of "innovative accounting" and fierce lobbying to lower its tax bill in recent years, paying no U.S. taxes for 2010 and actually receiving a tax benefit of $3.2 billion last year.
General Electric is a multi-national company known for a dizzying variety of products, everything from light bulbs to TV networks to nuclear reactors. The company made $14.2 billion in profits for 2010, including $5.1 billion from operations in the US.
The top tax rate for corporations in the US is supposed to be 35%, one of the highest on Earth. But few corporations really pay that rate, the New York Times reports, since there are many possible loopholes that companies can use to get tax breaks. While 30% of Uncle Sam's revenue came from corporations in the 1950s, today it's down to just 6.6%.
According to the Times, GE is particularly adept at lobbying for and winning corporate tax breaks, spending tens of millions on lobbyist fees. For instance, the company benefits from green-energy credits on wind turbines, while getting a break on the the rate its jet engines depreciate.
GE has hired former IRS employees and Congressional tax specialists, and now employs an ex Treasury official to lead its tax department, while President Barack Obama has installed GE's chief executive as head of the new Council on Jobs and Competitiveness.
Even former President Ronald Reagan, well-known for his administration's corporate-friendly policies, took issue with GE's tax schemes. Reagan changed the tax system when he learned that GE was avoiding taxes, the Times reports.
"I didn't realize things had gotten that far out of line," Reagan told his Treasury secretary.
In the years since, GE has figured out new ways to get around paying taxes.
"In our system, there are corporations that view their tax departments as a profit center," one former Treasury official told the Times.

Watching all the protest and unrest in the Mideast countries, I see a lot of people locked in their places in life by a embedded ruling class. This discontent and frustration fuels the protests.
Looking at our Senate and the House I can feel a lot of the same feeling. Some members are just ignoring the people who insist that we stop spending money that we don't have. They seem to have a attitude that they know best and and are ignoring the people. As if they are entitled to stay in office as some sort of prince or princess.
Time will tell, we will definitely see another major political shift in 2012.

Recommend by Glenn Beck today. I was just watching the Glen Beck show and he talked briefly withe the author Andrew McCarthy.
This show was on the day that Murbaruk resigns as president of Egypt. Interesting that he said he would put his money on the Muslim Brotherhood will be in power after the political dust settles.
I startingd to see Glenn Beck as a "Paul Revere" of our times. His predictions are amazing. I have stopped watched any of the left mainstream media for my news.

Watching the daily Glenn Beck show, its seems to me that Glenn Beck may be 2011's Paul Revere.
I never heard the word caliphate, while researching the caliphate in Muslim history it does have call for a new empire based on the teaching of Islam.
Just heard Donald Rumsfield use the word and talk about the caliphate with Egypt at its center, little scary. I know that Rumfield was promoting his new book, but I hope he adds the word caliphate to the vocabuary of Americans.
Time will tell.

DES MOINES, Iowa – Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich called Tuesday for the elimination of the Environmental Protection Agency, which he wants to replace with a new organization that would work more closely with businesses and be more aggressive in using science and technology.
In an interview with The Associated Press, Gingrich said the EPA was rarely innovative and focused only on issuing regulations and litigation.
"What you have is a very expensive bureaucracy that across the board makes it harder to solve problems, slows down the development of new innovations," Gingrich said.
Gingrich, who has acknowledged that he's mulling a run for the Republican presidential nomination, was in Iowa to talk to the Iowa Renewable Fuels Association. He also met privately with Republican legislators, often a sign in Iowa that people are laying the groundwork for a campaign. The state has the nation's first presidential caucuses.
Gingrich, who has made several visits to Iowa recently, said the EPA was founded on sound ideas but has become a traditional Washington bureaucracy. Gingrich had previously mentioned his desire to change the EPA, but Tuesday's explanation was the first time he made a specific proposal for replacing the agency, Gingrich spokesman R.C. Hammond said.
"We need to have an agency that is first of all limited, but cooperates with the 50 states," Gingrich said. "The EPA is based on bureaucrats centered in Washington issuing regulations and litigation and basically opposing things."
EPA spokesman Brenden Gilfillan in Washington declined to comment on Gingrich's statements.
Gingrich denied his proposal would result in environmental damage, saying he would replace the EPA with what he called the Environmental Solution Agency.
"I think you have an agency which would get up every morning, very much like the National Institutes for Health or the National Science Foundation, and try to figure out what do we need to do today to get a better environment that also gets us a better economy," he said.
Gingrich also said his proposed agency would pursue the development of a clean coal and rewrite regulations governing the development of small nuclear plants.
"There's a whole new emerging technology that allows you to build smaller nuclear plants, but all of our rules were designed for very complex, very expensive systems," he said.
Gingrich's anti-Washington, pro-business theme was designed to appeal to the conservatives who dominate Republican precinct caucuses, which traditionally launch the presidential nominating process. Iowa's next presidential caucus is Feb. 6, 2012.
"The level of control that Washington bureaucrats want to extend over topics they don't understand and communities they don't live in is wrong," he said. "Having an attitude of getting up every morning and trying to stop the economy is just a very destructive attitude."

Boeing’s SBInet was supposed to be the ultimate in anti-illegal immigrant technology: miles of surveillance-radar towers (colloquially, “Cameras on a Pole”) hooked up to ground-based sensors that detected the heat of someone’s footprints or the metal of a border-crossing vehicle. Sound impractical? That’s what the GAO Government Accountability Office found in October, when it lamented SBInet’s “well-chronicled history of not delivering promised capabilities and benefits on time and within budget.”
It only took nearly a year of hiatus and $1 billion in sunk costs, but the Department of Homeland Security has finally gotten rid of the networked suite of sensors that made up its virtual border fence. But some of its technology may live on as zombie border protection.
The virtual fence “cannot meet its original objective of providing a single, integrated border-security technology solution,” Secretary Janet Napolitano conceded in a statement today heralding the program’s termination.

The book generated considerable interest and a cult following among laymen, but professional historians in both China and the West largely dismissed his claims. Now Menzies, still the provocateur, insists that a Chinese fleet visited Italy and imparted the wisdom of the highly advanced Chinese civilization, thus sparking the explosion of scientific inquiry and creativity during the Renaissance. As scholarly history, this work is weak. Menzies takes fragmentary evidence and blows it up into “without a doubt” conclusions. Still, as a combination of nautical tall tale and historical speculation, this is a fun book. Menzies knows how to spin a yarn and does so in the manner of a good detective story. On Friday, Giffords introduced legislation to provide for a 5 percent reduction in pay for members of Congress.

It seems the left and the left winged media is crying crying foul in
the bizarre shooting in Tucson. This Jared Lee Loughner character was a registered independent, only voted once in 2008, did not vote at all in 2010. To claim he was a politically motivated shooter doesn't fit his profile.
On Monday the press discovered a tent in the backyard with a little altar with marijuana under a skull, where was his parents ? I think any parent would have talked to their kid or seek some professional help.
He was kicked out of the Pima Community College, a junior college in Tucson, and asked to return only with a medical note regarding his mental wellness. Should someone picked up the ball here? His family/ school management?
It seems the left is whining after losing the election big in November and are still looking for someone to blame. This smells like a "never let a crisis go to waste" moment for the lefties.

Last month, The Home Depot gave a corporate boost to homosexual "marriage" by paying for its promotion during the 2010 Atlanta Gay Pride Festival.
The Home Depot paid to print thousands of colored brochures with a schedule and map of hundreds of gay pride activities and booths.
The brochure prominently featured the promotion for a gay marriage "Commitment Ceremony" at the event.
AFA took video at the ceremony and provides these photos as proof that The Home Depot advocates mocking traditional marriage as only between one man and one woman.

The Internet news site has become a trusted place where concerned citizens from all over the world can go to get the day’s latest headlines, particularly concerning issues of special interest to Christians. The new site was introduced to the public in January. Nine months later, ONN had over two million visitors in October alone.
● In a combined effort between American Family Radio (AFR) and our new media departments, an online-only 24/7 talk radio station was launched in September. AFRTalk is a unique combination of talk programs that are relevant to families and that address important issues from a decidedly Christian point of view.
● An AFA video production in response to the Virginia Tech shootings attracted 1.3 million views on Youtube.com. Nearly 500 million e-mails calling for action on various issues were transmitted to supporters. A Webcast (video on the Internet) of the values voter debate between several Republican presidential candidates attracted over 200,000 viewers.
● AFR launched three new radio stations in Texas and one each in New Mexico, Louisiana, Virginia, Mississippi and South Carolina. The broadcasting power of two other stations was upgraded.
● AFR listeners pledged their prayer support, and 148 of them became World Vision child sponsors. The ministries of Global Outreach and Gospel for Asia, both mission agencies, were also highlighted. Ongoing public service campaigns featured the work of well-known Christian ministries including Way of the Master, TransWorld Radio, Crown Financial and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. On two occasions AFR worked with 8 Days of Hope, a relief ministry helping to rebuild New Orleans and the Gulf Coast.
● The AFA Journal continued to serve as the most thorough expression of AFA’s positions on a wide variety of issues of interest to American families. A full-text version of the monthly Journal was made available at www.afajournal.org.
Typical of the growing symbiosis between the various divisions of AFA, two AFA Journal staff members are regular panelists on AFA Report, a daily issues-oriented roundtable discussion that broadcasts on our radio network and on AFRTalk.
● Encouraging citizen activism remained at the heart of AFA’s mission. In 2007, Ford Motor Company sales continued to decline in part due to AFA’s ongoing national boycott over the company’s support of the homosexual agenda.

● Increased revenue from underwriting allowed the AFA Journal to enhance the design and produce a more reader-friendly publication, and at the same time maintain the hard-edge coverage of news and issues for AFA’s activist partners.
● The Journal made a concerted effort to increase coverage of positive media entertainment projects, e.g. full reviews of theater releases such as Facing the Giants and The Nativity Story. In addition, the AFA Journal carried numerous interviews with principal players in new family-friendly entertainment.
● News editor Ed Vitagliano was awarded first place in magazine writing at the Southern Christian Writers Conference. Editor Randall Murphree received honorable mention in the same venue, and Vitagliano earned a fourth place award at the national Evangelical Press Association.
● In April and September, AFR partnered with Compassion International to encourage listeners to help meet the needs of children in Third World countries. Approximately 1,500 new child sponsors were added, bringing the total to over 5,000 sponsorships through efforts of AFR and making the network the leading radio partner for Compassion International.
● From May 28 to June 3, AFR participated in Eight Days of Hope. Over 1,500 volunteers from around the country gathered on the Mississippi Gulf Coast to assist with the restoration of homes destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. According to Steve Tybor, the overwhelming majority of these volunteers were there because they listened to AFR.
● On August 17, AFR partnered with Free Wheelchair Mission to raise funds to provide wheelchairs for impoverished and disabled people in Third World countries. Our goal was to raise enough to buy and ship 1,500 wheelchairs. We met the goal in the first 3 hours of the 12-hour broadcast. At the end of the day, over 5,000 wheelchairs had been purchased!
● Also in August, AFR partnered with Tim Todd Ministries, Truth for Youth Project, to place Bibles in the hands of junior and senior high school students. Over 50,000 Bibles were distributed for that purpose. This is our fourth year to participate in a Truth for Youth campaign. In that time approximately 200,000 Bibles have been placed.
● The radio news team began work on developing closer relations with Christian news agencies around the world in order to expand AFR coverage of international issues of importance to Christians.
● AFA’s online news service was recognized by Alexa, a Web information company, as the second most popular Christian news site on the Internet. AgapePress, (now known as Onenewsnow.com) consistently drew over 50,000 visitors per day to its online stories.
● For the first time since its founding in 2000, several secular newspapers became regular subscribers to OneNewsNow.com.
● AFA Center for Law & Policy, closed in 2007, won an unusual victory in an anti-pornography case that required the owner of a nude bar to pay court-ordered attorneys’ fees to the CLP.
● AFA won a potentially far-reaching victory in federal court for a client to share his Christian faith on public highways and streets in Detroit, Michigan. He had been arrested for doing so during the 2006 Super Bowl in Detroit.
● AFA successfully defended numerous prolife advocates who had been charged for peacefully protesting against abortion in Waco, Texas. AFA then sued the city in federal court for violating the pro-lifers’ constitutional rights, winning the case and attorneys’ fees.
● AFA efforts caused NBC to cancel the anti-Christian show called The Book of Daniel.
● In January, AFA asked supporters to file formal complaints with the FCC against CBS and its affiliate stations for broadcasting Without A Trace which contained an extended teenage orgy scene. Within days, 165,997 AFA online supporters had filed formal complaints with the FCC. As a result, FCC announced fines on 111 CBS stations.
● AFA distributed tens of thousands of videos that refuted the claims of the heretical contents of the popular movie The DaVinci Code.
● Because of the efforts by AFA supporters, the National Education Association dropped their proposal to endorse homosexual marriage.
● AFA was one of the leading organizations that helped save the historic cross featured at the Mt. Soledad Veterans Memorial in San Diego, which was under attack by atheists.
● Due directly to the efforts of AFA, NBC was forced to cancel a scene in the Madonna concert special in which she mocked the crucifixion of Christ. More than 750,000 AFA supporters emailed NBC asking for the scene to be deleted from the special which aired in November.

The Internet news site has become a trusted place where concerned citizens from all over the world can go to get the day’s latest headlines, particularly concerning issues of special interest to Christians. The new site was introduced to the public in January. Nine months later, ONN had over two million visitors in October alone.
● In a combined effort between American Family Radio (AFR) and our new media departments, an online-only 24/7 talk radio station was launched in September. AFRTalk is a unique combination of talk programs that are relevant to families and that address important issues from a decidedly Christian point of view.
● An AFA video production in response to the Virginia Tech shootings attracted 1.3 million views on Youtube.com. Nearly 500 million e-mails calling for action on various issues were transmitted to supporters. A Webcast (video on the Internet) of the values voter debate between several Republican presidential candidates attracted over 200,000 viewers.
● AFR launched three new radio stations in Texas and one each in New Mexico, Louisiana, Virginia, Mississippi and South Carolina. The broadcasting power of two other stations was upgraded.
● AFR listeners pledged their prayer support, and 148 of them became World Vision child sponsors. The ministries of Global Outreach and Gospel for Asia, both mission agencies, were also highlighted. Ongoing public service campaigns featured the work of well-known Christian ministries including Way of the Master, TransWorld Radio, Crown Financial and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. On two occasions AFR worked with 8 Days of Hope, a relief ministry helping to rebuild New Orleans and the Gulf Coast.
● The AFA Journal continued to serve as the most thorough expression of AFA’s positions on a wide variety of issues of interest to American families. A full-text version of the monthly Journal was made available at www.afajournal.org.
Typical of the growing symbiosis between the various divisions of AFA, two AFA Journal staff members are regular panelists on AFA Report, a daily issues-oriented roundtable discussion that broadcasts on our radio network and on AFRTalk.
● Encouraging citizen activism remained at the heart of AFA’s mission. In 2007, Ford Motor Company sales continued to decline in part due to AFA’s ongoing national boycott over the company’s support of the homosexual agenda.
● AFA supporters responded to a significant number of online “Action Alerts” that led to victories in the culture war which curbed anti-Christian bias and impacted national and state debates over core moral issues.

● Increased revenue from underwriting allowed the AFA Journal to enhance the design and produce a more reader-friendly publication, and at the same time maintain the hard-edge coverage of news and issues for AFA’s activist partners.
● The Journal made a concerted effort to increase coverage of positive media entertainment projects, e.g. full reviews of theater releases such as Facing the Giants and The Nativity Story. In addition, the AFA Journal carried numerous interviews with principal players in new family-friendly entertainment.
● News editor Ed Vitagliano was awarded first place in magazine writing at the Southern Christian Writers Conference. Editor Randall Murphree received honorable mention in the same venue, and Vitagliano earned a fourth place award at the national Evangelical Press Association.
● In April and September, AFR partnered with Compassion International to encourage listeners to help meet the needs of children in Third World countries. Approximately 1,500 new child sponsors were added, bringing the total to over 5,000 sponsorships through efforts of AFR and making the network the leading radio partner for Compassion International.
● From May 28 to June 3, AFR participated in Eight Days of Hope. Over 1,500 volunteers from around the country gathered on the Mississippi Gulf Coast to assist with the restoration of homes destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. According to Steve Tybor, the overwhelming majority of these volunteers were there because they listened to AFR.
● On August 17, AFR partnered with Free Wheelchair Mission to raise funds to provide wheelchairs for impoverished and disabled people in Third World countries. Our goal was to raise enough to buy and ship 1,500 wheelchairs. We met the goal in the first 3 hours of the 12-hour broadcast. At the end of the day, over 5,000 wheelchairs had been purchased!
● Also in August, AFR partnered with Tim Todd Ministries, Truth for Youth Project, to place Bibles in the hands of junior and senior high school students. Over 50,000 Bibles were distributed for that purpose. This is our fourth year to participate in a Truth for Youth campaign. In that time approximately 200,000 Bibles have been placed.
● The radio news team began work on developing closer relations with Christian news agencies around the world in order to expand AFR coverage of international issues of importance to Christians.
● AFA’s online news service was recognized by Alexa, a Web information company, as the second most popular Christian news site on the Internet. AgapePress, (now known as Onenewsnow.com) consistently drew over 50,000 visitors per day to its online stories.
● For the first time since its founding in 2000, several secular newspapers became regular subscribers to OneNewsNow.com.
● AFA Center for Law & Policy, closed in 2007, won an unusual victory in an anti-pornography case that required the owner of a nude bar to pay court-ordered attorneys’ fees to the CLP.
● AFA won a potentially far-reaching victory in federal court for a client to share his Christian faith on public highways and streets in Detroit, Michigan. He had been arrested for doing so during the 2006 Super Bowl in Detroit.
● AFA successfully defended numerous prolife advocates who had been charged for peacefully protesting against abortion in Waco, Texas. AFA then sued the city in federal court for violating the pro-lifers’ constitutional rights, winning the case and attorneys’ fees.
● AFA efforts caused NBC to cancel the anti-Christian show called The Book of Daniel.
● In January, AFA asked supporters to file formal complaints with the FCC against CBS and its affiliate stations for broadcasting Without A Trace which contained an extended teenage orgy scene. Within days, 165,997 AFA online supporters had filed formal complaints with the FCC. As a result, FCC announced fines on 111 CBS stations.
● AFA distributed tens of thousands of videos that refuted the claims of the heretical contents of the popular movie The DaVinci Code.
● Because of the efforts by AFA supporters, the National Education Association dropped their proposal to endorse homosexual marriage.
● AFA was one of the leading organizations that helped save the historic cross featured at the Mt. Soledad Veterans Memorial in San Diego, which was under attack by atheists.
● Due directly to the efforts of AFA, NBC was forced to cancel a scene in the Madonna concert special in which she mocked the crucifixion of Christ. More than 750,000 AFA supporters emailed NBC asking for the scene to be deleted from the special which aired in November.

For example the current Tax cut bill, take it as one topic, yet earmarks, not related items/ off topic are being added to the bill daily. The argument given is that how they get support for the "tax cut" bill.
I truly believe this "off topic" bartering is how we got in this fiscal mess and congress has eroded to satisfying special interests not the big picture.

With basic food prices rising, we want cheaper grain food products, not some some expensive additive for gasoline. Putting ethanol in your gas tank in effect drives up food prices.

Among the energy tax provisions added was an extension of the current 45-cent per gallon subsidy for ethanol, at a cost to the Treasury estimated at nearly $5 billion. The issue is of particular interest to lawmakers from Midwestern states with grain crops.

Just watching the Glenn Beck show today and this Dietrich Bonhoeffer is another one of Glenn's discoveries. He was a pastor in Germany when Hilter started his rise to power. He tried to rally and inform fellow pastors / priests against Hilter and his ideals. THis looks like a very serious read.

How about changing the laws to allow citizens to own guns, and then supply the non criminals with handguns and rifle. They can protect themselves and thier homes.

This Thanksgiving, Americans can be thankful they do not live in a country whose larcenous financial sector has impoverished millions while its feckless government shovels more money at the culprits and its bought-off academics cheer.
As Charles Ferguson's superb documentary "Inside Job" makes clear, Americans can be thankful if they've still got their health, because their financial well-being has been stolen.
Now in limited release in New Jersey after openings in New York and Philadelphia, "Inside Job" is the year's most assured bit of film-making, also the most useful. Although essentially a movie of talking heads and lots of charts, "Inside Job" never looks or sounds dull.

The Food Safety Bill (S. 510) started out with the best intentions, to make our food supply safer. Unfortunately, even with the best intentions many in Congress will use any excuse to grow government and spend recklessly.
As a conservative on the Senate Health Education Labor and Pensions Committee I initially supported the Food Safety bill. At the time, I was clear that the bill needed significant improvements and if it did not continue to improve that I would stop supporting the bill. I hoped to use my cosponsorship to steer this legislation away from the big government expansion that I feared it would become. I made it clear that if there was a huge price tag to taxpayers that I would not support the bill.
That’s regrettably what happened. After the bill was approved by the committee, the legislation did not improve. It expands the federal workforce by the thousands. The federal workforce should be capped, which is why I introduced legislation this year to do exactly that. In addition this bill has a price tag of $1.5 billion, we simply cannot afford that. We need to balance the budget not continue to spend. Because of these concerns, I have voted against this legislation not once, but twice.

Washington (CNN) -- When Republican Trent Lott sat down for lunch with Democrat Tom Daschle on Monday afternoon, mere hours before voters shellacked President Obama and his party in the midterm elections, it was more than just two former Senate gladiators getting together to reminisce about old times
Despite their many differences over the years, Lott and Daschle managed to find a way to work together during the bruising days of the Clinton and Bush administrations, where everything from impeachment to Iraq caused deep divisions between the parties.
"He and I are whispering back and forth," Lott told me of his conversations with Daschle.
The two still keep in close touch and are now working back channels to try to get Obama and incoming House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, to see that a divided government does not have to mean that the government comes to a screeching halt.
"Tom and I went through this situation on both sides," said Lott, who was the Senate majority leader while Daschle was minority leader. "We've been through three different iterations of circumstances where we found a way to get things done."

Glenn Beck highlighted the fact that Michael Chertoff has a financial stake that sells these scanners. Beck also mentioned that George Soros had a interest in the company that sells these scanners Rapiscan Systems, Inc.
This may have been one of the topics that George discussed in his 4 White House for Obama visits.

Former HSA Secretary Michael Chertoff has jumped into the fray over whether to use full body scanners with an op-ed in the Washington Post. He urges that Congress fund "a large-scale deployment of next-generation systems."
Most airport security checkpoints use metal detectors. Al-Qaeda has shown that it knows how to avoid detection by using an explosive device that contains little or no metal, such as PETN, or pentaerythritol tetranitrate, used by Abdulmutallab and "shoe bomber" Richard Reid in 2001.
It will only be a matter of time before terrorists figured out how to avoid detection with these machines as well. One reason: The Government's publicly available list of which machines have been purchased for airport use. Each one carriesthe name of the company that makes them, and the company's website has all the particulars about the machine, including in some cases, what a particular machine doesn't screen.
Alternatively, by searching various scanners' web pages, which anyone can find using google, they will see which ones are Government certified. For example, the Rapiscan WaveScan 200, advertises that "the WaveScan 200 millimeter wave sensors do not image anatomical details, thus protecting privacy."
How much of a leap is it from that advisement to figuring out hiding explosives in one's crotch will not be detected?

Chertoff Argues for Whole Body Scanners
Former HSA Secretary Michael Chertoff has jumped into the fray over whether to use full body scanners with an op-ed in the Washington Post. He urges that Congress fund "a large-scale deployment of next-generation systems."
Most airport security checkpoints use metal detectors. Al-Qaeda has shown that it knows how to avoid detection by using an explosive device that contains little or no metal, such as PETN, or pentaerythritol tetranitrate, used by Abdulmutallab and "shoe bomber" Richard Reid in 2001.
It will only be a matter of time before terrorists figured out how to avoid detection with these machines as well. One reason: The Government's publicly available list of which machines have been purchased for airport use. Each one carriesthe name of the company that makes them, and the company's website has all the particulars about the machine, including in some cases, what a particular machine doesn't screen.
Alternatively, by searching various scanners' web pages, which anyone can find using google, they will see which ones are Government certified. For example, the Rapiscan WaveScan 200, advertises that "the WaveScan 200 millimeter wave sensors do not image anatomical details, thus protecting privacy."
How much of a leap is it from that advisement to figuring out hiding explosives in one's crotch will not be detected?
I can't tell if TSA is using the Rapidscan 200 yet, but it has been using the RapidScan 1000, whose web page contains this notice:

A Face in the Crowd
Glenn Beck has been spending a lot of time talking up his expose on George Soros which began today and it did not disappoint. Nothing that begins with the dramatic lines “83 years ago, George Soros was born. Little did the world know, then, that economy’s would collapse, currencies would become worthless, elections would be stolen, regimes would fall, and one billionaire would find himself, coincidentally, at the center of it all” ever could. But, at the end of today’s long Soros biography, Beck revealed an interesting anecdote: Soros once sent him a present, a copy of A Face in the Crowd on DVD.

An extraordinary supporting cast (led by Walter Matthau and Lee Remick) helps keep the energy level high, even when the satire turns shrill and unpersuasive in the final reel. Dobbs, 65, will develop and host a daily show that will start in the first quarter, New York-based Fox Business said today in a statement. He will also provide analysis and commentary across the network’s programs, as part of the multiyear agreement.
At CNN, Dobbs drew controversy for his coverage of illegal immigrants and questioning of President Barack Obama’s citizenship. His ratings declined after the 2008 presidential race and he announced his departure from the Time Warner Inc. 24-hour news channel almost exactly a year ago. In its last years, “Lou Dobbs Tonight” had focused less on business and more on the economic impact of trade, immigration and the loss of middle-class jobs in the U.S.
When he quit, Dobbs vowed to work to change the way these issues had become defined by “partisanship and ideology rather than by rigorous, empirical thought and forthright analysis and discussion.”
