AURORA — In honor of Black History Month, St. John African Methodist Episcopal Church will host guest preacher the Rev. Jeremiah Wright for its Sunday service.
Wright is the past senior preacher of Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, the church attended by the family of President Barack Obama.
Wright is most widely known for controversial comments during the 2008 election season taken from his sermons. But he also is known as an influential black liberation theologian, preaching that the Bible serves as a model for combating injustice.
“This is a really big issue for us,” the Rev. Cheryl Green of St. John said Thursday. “Dr. Wright, as a forerunner in social justice, will be here to get us on track with social justice in the 21st century.”

Obama administration was at "war" with the Catholic church
"The fact is what you're saying is there cannot be a genuine Catholic hospital," said Gingrich, who converted to Catholicism in 2009. "It will have to be subordinated to a secular government."
Gingrich, also appearing today on CBS's "Face the Nation," added that the policy proved that the Obama administration was at "war" with the Catholic church and launching "the most outrageous assault on religious freedom in American history."
The former House speaker said policies such as this prove that Obama is "so unacceptable" that he will support his rival Mitt Romney in the general election if the former Massachusetts governor is the Republican nominee.
"I believe President Obama is such a direct threat to the future of this country that I will support the Republican nominee because I believe that President Obama is a disaster," Gingrich said.

The Democrat announced last fall that he was retiring at the end of his 16th term.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- In the land of big-time deficits and trillion dollar budgets, Congress is spending less money on at least one thing. Itself.
After voting last year to cut its own operating budget by 5%, House members have reduced the number of paid positions on their staffs, and are spending less on office supplies and computers.
The cuts have translated to 948 fewer salaried staff positions, a 62.5% drop in spending on computers and 30.7% less spending on office supplies, according to an analysis conducted by the Sunlight Foundation.
Staff assistant positions were the hardest hit, registering a 16.6% decline, while the number of part-time employees dropped 15.6%. Meanwhile, the number of slots for communication directors actually increased.
The House has around 12,000 staffers, and the job cuts amounted to a 7.4% overall decline in positions, according to Sunlight.
When compared to current deficits, the House spending reductions don't add up to much in the way of savings. But for a Republican-controlled chamber, they are an important reflection of legislative priorities.
"The cuts are such a tiny fraction of the overall budget," said Lee Drutman, a data fellow at Sunlight. "And the reality is it makes it harder for them to do a decent job."
And more cuts are on the way, as funding will decrease another 6.4% for the legislative year that kicks off Tuesday.

Actress Maria Conchita Alonso confronts Sean Penn Over His Support for Chavez: ‘You Are a Communist Asshole!’
Cuban-born, Venezuelan-raised actress Maria Conchita Alonso and actor Sean Penn had a contentious exchange at Los Angeles International airport recently, in which Alonso called Penn a “communist a**hole“ and Penn called Alonso a ”pig.”
Over a year and a half after Alonso penned an open letter to Penn asking him why he supports socialist Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, the two met up serendipitously (or not so) at LAX while both were waiting to claim lost luggage.
Alonso, who starred alongside Penn in the 1988 film “Colors,” described the exchange to Steve Malzberg on WMAL.
“The second time I called him a communist I said ‘You’re a communist a**hole,” Alonso elaborated. She claims that while she regrets using profanity she is not sorry for calling Penn a communist.
“I’m not apologizing for calling him a communist because that is what he is.”
WMAL adds:
Alonso‘s criticism of Penn stems from comments he made on HBO where he painted Chavez in favorable terms for the nation’s work with aid in Haiti.
Alonso, who claimed the pair’s heated exchange caused a scene, added that she finds it “sad” because Penn is “an amazing actor.”

Ann Coulter, conservative author and preferred provocateur among cable news bookers, was repeatedly bleeped during a recent appearance on "Morning Joe" on Tuesday. In the bleeped asides, Coulter apparently called John McCain a "douchebag."
Coulter was also cut for several seconds while discussing the consistency of current and former GOP candidates, including Newt Gingrich, Mitt Romney and McCain.
"What did I say, 'douchebag'?" Coulter, realizing she had been bleeped, asked Joe Scarborough.
"Well, they got the general drift," Coulter added.
On Monday, McCain appeared on "Imus in the Morning" on Fox Business, and was asked about his daughter Meghan's recent hiring by MSNBC.
"She went over to the dark side I guess," McCain said. "I am very proud of her. She's feisty. Being over there she is going to have to have quite a bit of that. I'm sure she will fight for the things she and I believe in."

He also wants to reduce the staff size of senators and congressmen by one half.
I think this is a great ideal and will be popular with voters. The public is pissed at congress in general and a move to reduce thier workload would be welcomed.
Its also intteresting to note that the state legistature of Texas only meets evry other year, and see how well Texas is growing and expanding.

On his Friday radio program, radio talker Rush Limbaugh proposed using the website Politico’s rules against the news outlet by finding a “Republican Larry Flynt” to offer a bounty to anyone who can document sexual harassment among members of the media — specifically at Politico.
Turnabout is fair play, so they say. Limbaugh said that after Politico reported a story last week about allegations of sexual harassment against Herman Cain by two women, and then continued on to report and even promote the report with 90 stories in just five days, the notion of “innocent until proven guilty” has been effectively voided.
Flynt is the liberal publisher of Hustler magazine who offers money for proof of sexual misconduct by Republicans,
