another Obama spending $20 million on rpomoting obamacare

The Health and Human Services Department has signed a $20 million contract with a public-relations firm to highlight part of the Affordable Care Act.
The new, multimedia ad campaign is designed to educate the public about how to stay healthy and prevent illnesses, an HHS official said.

The campaign was mandated by the Affordable Care Act and must describe the importance of prevention while also explaining preventive benefits provided by the healthcare law. The law makes many preventive services available without a co-pay or deductible, and provides new preventive benefits to Medicare patients.

The PR firm Porter Novelli won the contract after a competitive bidding process. The $20 million contract was first reported by PR Week. Porter Novelli did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Running Against Rep Raul Grijalva in Arizona house race?

Running Against Grijalva? No Voter Database for You!

The Arizona Democratic Party refused requests from two Democratic Party candidates for the party's voter file — both candidates, Amanda Aguirre and Manny Arreguin are running against incumbent Raul Grijalva for U.S. Congress.
Hat tip to Huffington Post writer Alex Brant-Zawadski , who followed up on a story that first ran on conservative blog Western Free Press.

Each political party maintains their own voter data base, and is typically available to candidates who use the information to reach registered voters during a campaign and to increase voter turn-out.
Monday, I called the state party's executive director Luis Heredia to get more information. I spoke briefly with Frank Camacho, chief of communications, and was told he'd have Heredia get back to me. I never heard back from Heredia, so I called again yesterday and left a message on his voice mail. Still no word.
Heredia never called the Huff-Po writer back either, but Camacho said this:
... that the decision was made by a vote of the state Executive Committee. I was told the executive director, Luis Heredia, would call me back to explain. Heredia never called me back. The next day, the gracious Mr. Camacho apologized profusely for the lack of a response, then relayed what he was told to relay about the incident. It seems that because Raul Grijalva is an incumbent with the endorsement of the White House, the Executive Committee somehow felt it necessary to empower Heredia with the ability to deny access to VAN or Voter File. "The party has invested in that file and it contains proprietary information," said Camacho. "So when the executive director was given authorization by the Executive Board, he exercised that authority and decided to deny [Arreguin] access." It should be noted that Heredia is a former aide to Congressman Grijalva.
On Monday, I talked with Arreguin, the Tucson doctor who is one of the two Dems running against Grijalva, and Tuesday morning I talked with Aguirre, the other candidate from Yuma who served as an state Senator from 2006 to 2010 and a state Representative from 2003 to 2006. Yesterday, I left word with Grijalva's media contact Adam Sarvana asking for comment, but he directed me to the Huff-Po piece and Camacho's comment.

Arreguin said his campaign talked with the state Secretary of State's office to obtain the voter file and filled out what they thought was the necessary paperwork. "We were waiting to hear back, but when we hadn't heard anything we found out in an e-mail that the state (Democratic) party denied access to the (voter database) because (Grijalva) is an incumbent and he had received a presidential endorsement."
Arreguin said he didn't know the state party would be involved in the request. He called Heredia to get more information and also sent an e-mail asking if the state party's office would reconsider the decision. But he never heard back from anyone.

"When we sign up and register with a political party, one reason why we do that is to keep abreast of the candidates - 'Perhaps they will call me when it's election time comes along and I might be able to volunteer, donate money and participate.' That's the expectation," he said.
Isn't this just politics?
"I certainly wasn't born yesterday, but it's just amazing the levels you have to penetrate to be a participant in this democratic process," Arreguin said.
This morning Aguirre said she went to the state party's office in Phoenix at the of March long before Grijalva received the presidential endorsement and spoke with Heredia to request the database information. Heredia told her that she wouldn't be given the information because Grijalva is an incumbent and that the decision was made by the state's executive committee.
"I was very disappointed, of course. I've been a Democrat all my life and elected as a Democrat before. I work bipartisan, but nonetheless, this is my party, so i was very disappointed and sad," Aguirre said.
Aguirre said she went to a national company to get the voter information, which costs more than going through the state party office. However, when we talked with her she couldn't recall the name of the company or how much it cost her campaign.
"Well, I think certainly there are people in the party that have that relationship with Raul Grijalva ... Yes, he's an incumbent, but I think in this country, we should have any candidate step up to run in an election without being attacked by their own party," she said.
According to the state Democratic Party's website, the executive committee includes chair Bill Roe, first vice chairwoman Harriet Young, treasurer Rick McGuire, senior vice chairman Jim Woodbrey, national committeewoman Carolyn Warner, national committeewoman Judy Kennedy, vice chairwoman Laura Hogan, vice chairwoman Jo Kelleher, vice chairwoman Sherry B. Williams, vice chairman Chris Campas, vice chairman Manuel Cruz, vice chairman Gerald Richard, and secretary Sharon Thomas.

what is the REINS Act ?

what is the  REINS Act ?

I hear this ideal on the Stossel Fox show. Looks like a very unique way to control the uncontrolled rules and regulations being generating by government agencies. Senator Mike Like has proprosed this new bill in congress.

In brief, anything thing that causes a economic impact of over $100 million would be required congressional approval. The problem is that congress has delegated and created several agencies,ie EPA, that really don't have to answer to anyone. Some say they are running amok in destructive rules and regulations causing a serious damper effect on the total economy.

The jest of it that congressional approval would be required to enact any new actions. Right now there is no congressional check on any of these new rules and regulations.

This seems to fit well with John Stossel new book, "No they can't'"

 =============================

During his principal comments, Senator Mike Lee, junior senator from Utah, suggested that one reason why EPA and other agencies have run amok is that Congress has granted them significant rule making power with little or no Congressional oversight. To  “rein in” these regulatory excesses, the House of Representatives passed late last year the “Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny Act” (REINS).  The Act would require Congressional approval for any regulation that would have an economic impact in excess of $100 million.

ICE Negotiates with Obama's Uncle DUI bust

ICE Negotiates with Obama's Uncle

According to statements made by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials, the agency may pursue deportation proceedings against President Obama's illegal alien uncle, Onyango Obama, unless a court changes his status.
"ICE met with Mr. Onyango and his attorney…." said ICE spokesman Brian Hale. (Boston Herald, Apr. 13, 2012) "Pursuant to this meeting, Mr. Onyango will be required to check in regularly with immigration officials pending his removal. Absent a change in his immigration status or any related court proceedings, Mr. Onyango will be required to report to ICE in the coming weeks in order to effectuate his departure from the United States," he continued. (Id.)

President Obama's uncle was arrested last year for driving erratically and operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol at nearly twice the legal limit. (Boston.com, Aug. 31, 2011; see also Boston Herald, Mar. 28, 2012) Upon arrest, Onyango was briefly detained by ICE officials when they discovered he had ignored a 20-year-old deportation order. (Boston.com, Aug. 31, 2011)
Given the fact Onyango has yet to face any consequences, it is uncertain whether ICE's statements indicating they are considering deportation proceedings against him are sincere. Following Onyango's arrest, Massachusetts Judge Douglas Stoddard put the case on hold for one year and effectively dismissed the DUI charges under the terms of the plea arrangement. (Chicago Tribune, Mar. 27, 2012; see also FAIR Legislative Update, Apr. 2, 2012) The plea deal provided that so long as Onyango is not arrested again this year, the Court will dismiss the drunk-driving charges against him. (The Hill, March 27, 2012)
More recently, the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles granted him a "hardship waiver," allowing him to drive to and from his job managing a liquor store, despite the fact federal law prohibits illegal aliens from working. (CBS Boston, Apr. 3, 2012; see INA § 274A(h)(3))
Onyango has hired immigration attorney Margaret Wong, who helped his sister, Zeituni Onyango, win asylum in 2010. (Boston Herald, Apr. 13, 2012; see also FAIR Legislative Update, Sept. 27, 2010)

Will America become a suburb of Indonesia ?

Will America become a suburb of Indonesia ?

Ted Nugent, speaking at the organization's annual gathering over the weekend, praised NRA members but warned that if they did not "get everybody in your lives to clean house in this vile, evil, America-hating administration, I don't even know what you're made out of."

"If the coyote's in your living room, pissing on your couch, it's not the coyote's fault. It's your fault for not shooting him," he said.He also denounced the administration as "criminals" and said a Democratic victory in November would mean "we'll be a suburb of Indonesia next year" — an apparent reference to Obama's boyhood time there.

Sen. Claire McCaskill charges the American taxpayer $88K for her private jet

Sen. Claire McCaskill charges the American taxpayer $88K for her private jet The tough 2012 re-election fight that Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) is facing just got a whole lot tougher after revelations that she and her husband failed to pay $287,273 in property taxes on a private jet. The disclosure followed reports that she billed taxpayers for political trips on the jet, prompting her to send the Treasury $88,000 in compensation. McCaskill, who said she'll repay the $287,000, too, wants her husband to "sell the damn plane," but Republicans are already running ads about McCaskill's tax gaffe. It's easy to see why: If the GOP picks off just four Democratic seats next year, they win control of the Senate. see more info on Sen. Claire McCaskill

Looking for Obama former students at University of Chicago

Looking for Obama former pupils / students at University of Chicago

Does anyone of Obama former students from his 12 years of teaching at UofC courses have any notes, audio recording or video showing Obama teaching a class on constitutional law. Even graded papers, notes, comments /

I got this for the UC office online.............

The University of Chicago Law School handles media requests through the University of Chicago News Office.

The Law School is happy to work with the media to provide access to our faculty members, who are experts on myriad subjects, or to provide comment on news stories where appropriate.
For all media inquiries, please contact Sarah Galer at sgaler@uchicago.edu or 773 702 8365. Statement Regarding Barack Obama The Law School has received many media requests about Barack Obama, especially about his status as "Senior Lecturer." From 1992 until his election to the U.S. Senate in 2004, Barack Obama served as a professor in the Law School. He was a Lecturer from 1992 to 1996. He was a Senior Lecturer from 1996 to 2004, during which time he taught three courses per year. Senior Lecturers are considered to be members of the Law School faculty and are regarded as professors, although not full-time or tenure-track. The title of Senior Lecturer is distinct from the title of Lecturer, which signifies adjunct status. Like Obama, each of the Law School's Senior Lecturers has high-demand careers in politics or public service, which prevent full-time teaching.
Several times during his 12 years as a professor in the Law School, Obama was invited to join the faculty in a full-time tenure-track position, but he declined. .

another $$$ losing Amtrak for Senator Reid ? at high speed Amtrak on steroids ? Vegas rail plan seeks $4.9 billion federal loan Idea is for Los Angeles visitors to park in Calif. town, then take train in On a dusty, rock-strewn expanse at the edge of the Mojave Desert, a company linked to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid wants to build a bullet train that would rocket tourists from the middle of nowhere to the gambling palaces of Las Vegas. Privately held DesertXpress is on the verge of landing a $4.9 billion loan from the Obama administration to build the 150 mph train, which could be a lifeline for a region devastated by the housing crash or a crap shoot for taxpayers weary of Washington spending. The vast park-and-ride project hinges on the untested idea that car-loving Californians will drive about 100 miles from the Los Angeles area, pull off busy Interstate 15 and board a train for the final leg to the famous Strip. Planners imagine that millions of travelers a year will one day flock to a station outside down-on-its-luck Victorville, a small city where shuttered storefronts pock the historic downtown. An alliance of business and political rainmakers from The Strip to Capitol Hill is backing the project that could become the first high-speed system to break ground under President Barack Obama's push to modernize the U.S. rail network — and give the Democratic president's re-election prospects a lift in battleground Nevada. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood has publicly blessed the train — it means jobs, he says — and it's cleared several regulatory hurdles in Washington. Yet even as the Federal Railroad Administration considers awarding what would be, by far, the largest loan of its type, its own research warns it's difficult to predict how many people will ride the train, a critical measure of financial survival, an Associated Press review found. There are other skeptics, as well. "It's insanity," says Thomas Finkbiner of the Intermodal Transportation Institute at the University of Denver. "People won't drive to a train to go someplace. If you are going to drive, why not drive all the way and leave when you want?" Construction cost projections have soared to as much as $6.5 billion, not including interest on the loan. Some fear taxpayer subsidies are inevitable. Reid and other supporters point to research that shows 80,000 new jobs, but FRA documents show virtually all those would be temporary — no more than 722 would be permanent. click to see the complete AP article by MICHAEL R.
