Both had hopes for using solar as a new source of energy.
Since President Jimmy Carter announce his beliefs in his term till today I have yet to a practical application of solar power in any form.

Both are selling the ideal of solar as a means to end the oil needs of America.

If you look closely to any federal spending on solar, the companies experience a short spike in their business, usually several weeks later if you look at the numbers the jobs have dwindled away and the manufacturing of any solar hardware has been outsourced to China.  What the shit ?
It seems sort of stupid to still be continuing to sell the ideal of solar. This time around I believe that solar will cost Obama many votes and contribute to to his re election failure.

Miguel Cuevas was given the president's gavel, a Cuban cigar, and a beret that matches his eyes. Grijalva announced a Revolutionary Tribunal will determine what speech is permissible in the new regime and who is a racist. The U.N. will vote on sanctions next week.

Democratic Rep. Gabrielle Giffords' campaign is asking the Federal Election Commission whether she can use donations to help pay for security improvements recommended by the U.S. Capitol Police.

Officers recommended about $2,200 worth of security improvements to her family's home in Houston. Giffords stays there when she's not undergoing therapy that's required as a result of being shot in the head last January.

Officers suggested better exterior lighting and the installation of an alarm button that can be pushed in emergencies, among other things.

TUCSON, Ariz. -- The cat got out of the bag last week when a blogger posted that State Senator Frank Antenori planned to form an exploratory committee ahead of a possible run for Gabrielle Giffords' seat in Congress.

Monday afternoon the Republican state lawmaker made it official.

State Senator Frank Antenori shared his plans to test the waters for a run for Congress in Congressional District 8 with the Tucson Republican Women's monthly luncheon.

"Part of the exploring process is to see if that support is there, the support base of the volunteers, the support base of donors the support base of the electorate, see if the electorate thinks your capable of representing them," said Arizona State Senator Frank Antenori (R).

Currently three-term Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords represents the district.

But for the last eight months she has been recovering from a gunshot wound to the head that occurred on January 8.

A decision on her return to office may not come until May and Antenori felt that was to far out to start his committee.

"I don't expect her to have to make one, but you know waiting until May... I don't think the people of southern Arizona want to wait until May to find out who's going to be representing them in Washington," said Antenori.

If Representative Giffords decides to run for re-election. Antenori says he will take his name out of the race.

"I really hope for the best for her. If she able to run and vigorously represent the district in all likelihood I will probably opt out and continue to serve in the legislature," said Antenori.

Republican voters at Monday's luncheon seem to be supportive of the state senator's decision to test the waters.

"I am delighted. Frank Antenori is probably one of the most intelligent forthright leaders that we have in the state of Arizona," said Wendy Reuter.

"I think he would represent us well as far as his timing it's always going to be difficult," said Lori Regehr.

Antenori says he will likely make a decision to run or not run for the seat by January or February.

Antenori also said he may not have to run against Representative Giffords' and that he could run for a new seat due to redistricting.

As the U.S. Congress came to an agreement on a budget that purportedly would avoid the nation's first-ever default, talk-radio host Michael Savage warned his audience not to listen to voices on the left declaring it a victory for the tea party.

"If the left is telling you it's a victory for the tea party, then you know it's a lie," he said to his "Savage Nation" listeners.

Freshman Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., who was elected by the tea party movement, has pointed out that while the congressional deal touts a "cut" of $2.1 trillion, the best-case scenario would result in an additional $7 trillion in debt over the next 10 years.

"You're being hoodwinked again," Savage said.

He said today's politicians need to learn lessons from history to understand what Obama is doing, asserting that the term "Leninist" better describes the president and his policies than "Marxist."
"Lenin thought that a nation could only grow more prosperous when a nation is controlled by a vanguard and elite - a people who know better than you what to do with your property," he explained. "The Leninist elite would lead people to a world free of pain and poverty. There would be no more haves and have-nots or private property. Just boundless prosperity. All a nation had to do was transfer its entire wealth to Lenin's vanguard."

But the Leninist vision had consequences, Savage noted, aside from the well-document horrors of Soviet tyranny.

The Washington Times reports that Biden has collected $13,200 from the Secret Service since April to rent a cottage adjacent to his Wilmington, Del., home and continues to charge the agency rent.

The Secret Service has agreed to pay $2,200 per month for use of the house in order to provide security to the Biden family, according to Edwin M. Donovan, special agent in charge at the Secret Service's Office of Government and Public Affairs in Washington.

The recession and uneven recovery have erased decades of minority gains, leaving whites on average with 20 times the net worth of blacks and 18 times that of Hispanics, according to an analysis of new Census data.


The analysis shows the racial and ethnic impact of the economic meltdown, which ravaged housing values and sent unemployment soaring. It offers the most direct government evidence yet of the disparity between predominantly younger minorities whose main asset is their home and older whites who are more likely to have 401(k) retirement accounts or other stock holdings.

The president’s week-ahead schedule, released Friday night, stated he was to attend two Democratic National Committee events in Washington Monday evening. But the events were not listed on a schedule released Sunday night.

Sen. Steve Smith, R-Maricopa, who sponsored the legislation, hopes to raise at least $50 million from donors across the nation.

"Donate to the country's security," Smith said. "This is an American problem, not an Arizona problem."

State lawmakers who supported the law have said they want a consistent fence along the entire border that is solid, has multiple layers and is tall enough to keep out pedestrians. Smith said the effort also could include more high-tech security efforts.

The state's southern border is about 370 miles long. About a third of that, mostly in the western part of the state between Yuma and Nogales, has the type of fence lawmakers want. The rest either has no fencing or has fencing designed to keep out vehicles. In that part of the state, the fence is only a few feet tall and is made of barbed wire or wooden posts. Smith said most illegal immigrants cross into the eastern part of Arizona over that more porous border.

According to a 2009 U.S. Government Accountability Office report, it has cost the federal government about $3 million a mile to build the type of fence that would keep pedestrians out.

Smith said Arizona's final cost would depend on what kind of a fence is constructed and whether the state can get private companies to donate some of the construction supplies. State lawmakers have said they could save money by using inmate labor to build the fence.

The effort doesn't have official nonprofit status for tax purposes, but Smith said the website has a letter from the state consular general stating that there is precedent in Arizona that donations to a state or political subdivision are tax deductible.

"We aren't taking an official position on that, but consult your tax professional," Smith said. "Take that letter to your accountant."

The Legislature's Joint Border Security Advisory Committee, on which Smith serves, will determine what type of fence will be built and then manage construction.

Getting permission from landowners will determine where the fence can be built.

Much of the Arizona border is on federal land or Indian reservations, with small portions belonging to private landowners. Smith said the easiest solution would be for the federal government to give permission to build the fence within its 60-foot easement along the border.

"Let's hope the federal government will allow us to do it," Smith said. "But if they say no, we have a contingency."


Smith said he already has begun talking to private landowners and has support from several to build on their property, even if it means the fence has to go miles north of the border.



"We've identified three highly trafficked areas that are notorious that we have pretty good access to," he said. "And as we continue to raise awareness and funds, I hope the federal government says, 'Go ahead and build whatever you want to build.'"

"Arizona has been slammed by federally imposed, ineffective walls that cost taxpayers millions per mile," said Dan Millis, program coordinator for the Sierra Club borderlands campaign, in a media release. "Donations toward more border walls will not provide much bang for the buck."
