Nebraska Town Approves Ban on Hiring or Renting to Illegal Immigrants
Residents of Fremont, Nebraska, on Monday voted in favor of a measure that makes it illegal to harbor, hire, or rent property to an illegal immigrant.

The special election in Fremont on Monday was the latest proposal in a series of immigration regulations taken up by communities around the country. About 57 percent of voters supported the measure, which is expected to be challenged in court.
Supporters say the measure is needed to make up for what they see as lax federal law enforcement. Opponents fear it could fuel discrimination.

Device reportedly found inside an employee's locker

Investigators said they found a homemade bomb inside an employee's locker at the Hormel plant in
Fremont on Monday.
Authorities from Dodge County and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives removed the bomb Monday morning and took it outside to a parking lot across the street.
State patrol technicians used a bomb robot to disable the device. No one was injured.
An employee was taken into custody for questioning and will be the subject of a criminal investigation by the ATF, the state patrol said.
Troopers blocked access to the plant throughout the day.
